Date of visit: 9 November 2025
We were lucky to visit during a beautiful day full of sunshine. There is lots to do outside so not sure if a visit is very ideal when it’s very windy and rainy.
Preparing the visit
You can buy tickets for everything both at the register and online, but online is 2 EUR cheaper per person. So we bought our tickets a day in advance online. Can’t tell you if you have to purchase your tickets more in advance in high season but it was very calm when we were there.
Ticket prices were as follows:

The visit
We arrived around 11.15 AM and wanted to join the boat tour (you can sign up at the register when entering the park) which was scheduled to depart at 1.30 PM. So we first joined the next showing of the Delta Experience. This part lets you experience what it might have been like to live through the night of the storm in 1953 after which the entire Delta park was created to prevent such a disaster from happening again.
Then after a quick tour of some of the displays inside, we headed outside for a walk around the park. The walk is around 2,5 kilometers, including the ocean expo and aquarium on the route.
The tour outside
On the route, you can also check out some seals and sea lion shows, but we didn’t do any of those, not a big fan of such shows. Did spot one of the sea lions who was just swimming circles.

The ocean expo looked a bit older and there wasn’t much to see inside but anyway pleasant to stroll through, doesn’t take up much time.
The aquarium seemed a bit dated as well. Some of the tanks were very very small for the size or the amount of creatures living in there. Could use an upgrade to provide much more space.
We also went into the storm simulator. It’s a room with a big fan that will start blowing wind up to 130 km/hour to simulate a storm. They also give you goggles to put on for any particles flying about (mainly dust) while the simulation is ongoing. It’s not too bad in there, (bigger) kids are definitely allowed.
The rest of the way around the park there’s still some smaller stuff to do or read, it’s mainly enjoying the views and getting up close to one of the storm surge barriers.
There are quite a few things for kids but most will only be open during the summer time. There was a big slide open though so most bigger kids did go on there.

Lunch
After the walk we went back inside for lunch. The options were items like pizza, fries with croquettes, a hot dog, two different soups (tomato soup and pea soup), sandwiches (with tuna, with brie, with just veggies, and one with warm ham). Also smaller stuff like donuts, pie, etc. And some other options I can’t remember. We ordered a tuna sandwich, a warm ham sandwich and the pea soup. A bit expensive (with the drinks it was around 32 EUR) but delicious! All things we ordered were very good, we really enjoyed our lunch.

The boat tour
After lunch it was time for the boat tour. There’s a QR code available on the boat which directs you to a Dutch and English guide online about the things you see on the way. One of the crew also explains loads of stuff while on the boat but note that that was entirely in Dutch. Got some info around the Delta works, the storm surge barriers, the mussel plots and hanging mussels and the flooded villages. There were also some seals present on one of the islands there.

The boat ride took around 45 minutes. After the boat ride we headed to the documentary that is being shown on the construction of the Delta works which took about 25 minutes. Definitely worth a visit, very interesting!
Afterwards we did a quick tour of the expo there regarding the plastic soup in our oceans and then it was time to head on out. In the end we spent a little under 4 hours here.
Very happy we visited! Some things could definitely be improved but all in all it was a very interesting visit!
Key takeaways
- Not everything is translated from Dutch
- Best to book online if you can
- Make sure you start waiting in line for lunch well before the boat tour starts since waiting times can be a bit long, we were in line around 12:45 and got our food around 13:05
